Cricket

Cricket is a popular sport played throughout the globe. It was invented in the late 16th century in England and since then it has been gained popularity across the globe. The game of cricket is played with ball and bat. It is played between two teams having 11 players each.

The rules of cricket are specified in a code called the laws of cricket. There are 42 laws known to be drafted as early as 1744 and is presently maintained by the Marylebone Cricket Club in London.

Cricket is played mainly in three formats, namely test match, one day and T-20. Cricket is a good sport for developing overall fitness, stamina and hand-eye coordination.

Football

Football is the most popular game in the world. Football as we know it today, sometimes known as association football or soccer began in England, with particular rules by the Football Association in 1863. The word ‘football’ gets its name from the combination of two words, ‘foot’ and ‘ball’, where the players run and kick the ball with their feet.

The game is commonly called Soccer in Australia, South Africa and North America. FIFA World Cup is a football tournament that is conducted once in every year. Football is an important game which is played for 90 minutes and this time is full of excitement and thrill. It is a team game that makes it a more enjoyable game as it teaches people the importance of sportsmanship, leadership and unity.

Kho-Kho

Kho kho is a traditional Indian sport being one of the oldest outdoor sport dating back to ancient India. It is the second most popular traditional game in Indian subcontinent after Kabaddi. Kho kho is played on a rectangular court with a central lane connecting two poles which are at either end of the court. This game was first played in India. It is played by teams of 12 players who try to avoid being touched by members of the opposing team, only 9 players of the team enter the field. It is played in different countries like India, Pakistan and even in South Africa.

Kabadi

Kabaddi is a very popular game in India and is native to the state of Tamil Nadu. Kabaddi is a national sport of Bangladesh and is played extensively in India and Pakistan. It is quite prevalent in the Indian states of Bihar, Punjab, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. The sport is also known by other names such as Kaudi, Pakaada and Himoshika in different regions. Both men and women play it. The highest governing body of Kabaddi is The International Kabaddi Federation.

BasketBall

Basket Ball is an American sport drawing millions of fans across the world. Dr. James Naismith from Canada first invented the game. It is played by two well-equipped teams consisting of five players each. A rectangular floor area with a basket at both the ends marks the field for the game. The team that shoots the maximum number of balls through the basket is declared the winner. A referee carefully monitors the game.

Swimming

Swimming is an individual or team racing sport that requires the use of one’s entire body to move through water. The sport takes place in pools or open water e.g. in sea or lake. Competitive swimming is one of the most popular Olympic sports, with varied distance events in butterfly, backstroke and individual medley. This competition takes place worldwide. Swimming started its sporting journey in the mid of 19th century when the world’s first swimming organization was formed in London in 1837.

Track & Field Event

Track and Field is a very enjoyable sport to most of the athletes. Track and Field is a sport that contains many disciplines, including track sprints, track distance races and field events, which include javelin throwing, pole vaulting among others. Track events consist of sprints, middle-distance, long distance, hurdles and relays. Field events consist of jumps and throws, while combined events consists of pentathlon, heptathlon and decathlon. Track and field is usually played outdoors stadiums. Track and field has been around since the start of the Olympics in Ancient Greece in 776 B.C. Athletes need speed, strength, endurance, flexibility and skill.
